Why it works
Stealth rubber meets clipless efficiency

The Trailcross LT sole uses our Stealth Phantom rubber compound, the same formula that built Five Ten’s reputation in flat pedal shoes but optimized here for clipless engagement. The cleat pocket is recessed just enough to lock your cleats securely while keeping the surrounding rubber in contact with rocks, roots, and wet surfaces when you’re off the bike.

Upper construction and breathability
The details

Upper construction and breathability

The mesh upper balances ventilation with trail-ready support. We used a single-layer construction in high-flex zones around the forefoot and added synthetic overlays only where you need abrasion resistance — along the toe, heel counter, and lace eyelets. This keeps the shoe light and prevents hot spots during all-day rides.

The speed-lace system lets you dial tension quickly, and the lace keeper tucks everything away so stray ends won’t snag on branches or get caught in your drivetrain. The padded tongue stays centered without extra bulk, and the heel cup holds your foot stable through technical descents without pressure points.

Fit profile

The Trailcross LT runs true to Five Ten’s standard fit, which is slightly roomier in the toebox than narrow European race shoes. If you’re between sizes, we recommend going with your usual sneaker size rather than sizing down. The shoe accommodates medium to wide feet comfortably; narrow-footed riders may want to cinch the laces tighter or consider an insole adjustment.

Cleat compatibility

The two-bolt cleat pocket accepts all major mountain bike pedal systems — Shimano SPD, Crank Brothers, Time ATAC, and others. We positioned the cleat mounting zone slightly farther back than traditional XC shoes to improve walkability and balance power transfer with comfort on longer rides. Cleats are sold separately, so pick the system that matches your pedals.

Perfect balance for trail riding
I switched from race XC shoes and immediately noticed the difference when walking to the trailhead. The Stealth sole grips way better than my old hard plastic soles, and I don’t feel like I’m ice-skating anymore. On the bike, power transfer is still excellent for climbs. These are my new go-to for all-day rides.

Finally a clipless shoe I can hike in
I do a lot of mixed terrain rides that include portage sections, and the Trailcross LT handles it all. The cleat sits low enough that I’m not wobbling on rocks, and the toe protection has saved me multiple times already. Breathability is great even in summer heat.

Great for beginners to clipless
I was nervous about trying clipless pedals, but these shoes made the transition smooth. The walkability gives me confidence at stop signs and tech sections where I need to dab. Only reason I didn’t give five stars is I wish they came in more color options.

Stealth rubber lives up to the hype
The grip when I’m off the bike is unreal compared to my friend’s Shimano shoes. We were scrambling over wet rocks last weekend and I felt totally planted while he was slipping around. The shoes are holding up well after three months of heavy use.

Comfortable right out of the box
No break-in period needed. I wore these on a four-hour ride the day they arrived and had zero hot spots or pressure points. The lace system is quick to adjust, and the tongue stays put. Fit is true to size for me.

Solid all-around trail shoe
These do everything well without being the absolute best at any one thing. If you want the stiffest race shoe or the grippiest flat pedal shoe, look elsewhere. But for versatile trail riding where you need a bit of everything, the Trailcross LT nails it.

Good to know

Questions about the Trailcross LT

Yes, the Trailcross LT uses a standard two-bolt cleat mounting system that accepts Shimano SPD cleats and all other major mountain bike pedal systems including Crank Brothers, Time ATAC, and Look X-Track. Cleats are not included with the shoes, so you’ll need to purchase them separately based on your pedal choice.

The five ten trailcross lt follows the same fit profile as our Freerider and Hellcat flat pedal shoes, with a slightly roomier toebox than narrow European race shoes. If you already wear Five Ten flats, order your usual size. The clipless design doesn’t change the width or volume significantly, though the stiffer midsole may feel slightly more snug through the arch compared to softer flat pedal models.

Absolutely. The Trailcross LT features a low-profile cleat pocket that keeps the cleat recessed, so the surrounding Stealth rubber contacts the ground when you walk. This design provides stable footing on rocks, gravel, and pavement without the clacking or wobbling common in traditional clipless shoes. Many riders wear them for post-ride errands or casual walks without needing to change shoes.

The primary difference is the waterproof Gore-Tex membrane in the GTX model, which keeps your feet dry in wet conditions but reduces breathability slightly. The LT uses a standard breathable mesh upper without the waterproof layer, making it lighter and better ventilated for hot weather or dry climates. Both share the same Stealth Phantom outsole, cleat pocket design, and overall fit.

The Trailcross LT sits in the middle of the stiffness spectrum. It’s noticeably stiffer than flat pedal shoes for better power transfer, but more flexible than dedicated XC race shoes with carbon soles. This moderate stiffness balances pedaling efficiency with walking comfort, making it ideal for trail and all-mountain riding where you’ll be on and off the bike frequently.

Yes, the five ten trailcross lt runs true to standard Five Ten sizing, which aligns with typical US sneaker sizes. If you’re between sizes or have particularly wide feet, sizing up a half size can provide extra room. Narrow-footed riders may want to stick with their exact size and use the speed-lace system to dial in a snug fit.

Sole longevity depends heavily on how much walking and trail hiking you do off the bike. The Stealth Phantom compound is durable but will wear faster than hard plastic XC soles if you’re frequently scrambling over rocks or walking on pavement. Most riders see a full season or more of regular use before needing replacement, with the cleat area typically outlasting the surrounding tread if you’re doing a lot of off-bike hiking.
