Five Ten Trailcross XT Mountain Bike Shoes
Our Trailcross XT is built for riders who demand flat pedal performance without sacrificing trail comfort. The shoe pairs our legendary Stealth® S1 Dotty rubber outsole with a stiff EVA midsole, giving you confident pedal connection and enough support for hike-a-bike sections or post-ride exploring.

We’ve equipped the five ten trailcross xt with the same Stealth® S1 Dotty compound that powers our clipless-to-flat lineup. The dotted tread pattern creates hundreds of contact points with your pedal pins, and the rubber formula stays tacky even in wet or muddy conditions.

Upper construction and durability features
The upper blends breathable mesh panels with strategically placed TPU welded overlays. We positioned the overlays over high-wear zones — the inner ankle where crank arms brush, the outer midfoot where trail debris hits, and across the toe box where pedal cages make contact.
Inside, a molded EVA sockliner adds cushioning without making the shoe feel bulky, and we left the forefoot slightly roomier than our race-focused models to accommodate longer rides. The speed-lacing hardware uses metal eyelets on the lower half for durability and a webbing pull-loop on the upper half, so you can snug the fit in seconds and stash the excess lace under the stretchy keeper.

Midsole platform and trail walking performance
Balance between pedaling stiffness and hiking comfort
We built the midsole from compression-molded EVA with a stiffness rating that sits between our full-DH shoes and casual trail footwear. The platform is rigid enough that power transfers directly to the pedals during sprints and climbs, but it flexes just enough at the forefoot to feel natural when you’re pushing your bike uphill or navigating rock gardens on foot.
The 6 mm drop keeps your heel slightly elevated, which many riders find reduces calf fatigue on long descents. We also added a shank plate under the arch to prevent pedal studs from bruising your foot during extended flat pedal sessions, a detail that becomes critical on all-day epics.

Common questions about the Trailcross XT
No, the Trailcross XT is designed exclusively for flat pedals. The Stealth® S1 Dotty rubber outsole and tread pattern are optimized for pin engagement, and there are no cleat mounting points in the sole. If you need a shoe that works with both pedal systems, check out our Freerider Pro, which has a recessed cleat pocket and compatible outsole design.
The Trailcross XT has a slightly narrower heel cup and more structured midfoot than the Freerider, which helps lock your foot in place during aggressive riding. The forefoot width is similar between both models. We use a medium-volume last for the Trailcross XT, so riders with wide feet may want to try them on before committing to a full-day ride.
The XT features a more robust upper with welded TPU overlays and thicker mesh, making it better suited for rocky or abrasive trails. The LT uses a lighter, more breathable mesh construction and weighs about 50 grams less per shoe, so it’s ideal for hot-weather riding or less technical terrain. Both models share the same Stealth® S1 Dotty outsole and EVA midsole platform.
No, the Trailcross XT is not waterproof. The mesh upper is designed for breathability, which means water will enter during stream crossings or heavy rain. The materials dry relatively quickly, and the drainage design prevents water from pooling inside the shoe. For wet conditions, we recommend pairing them with waterproof socks or choosing a different shoe if you need full weather protection.
Outsole lifespan depends on riding frequency and terrain, but most riders report 12 to 18 months of regular use before the tread pattern shows significant wear. The S1 Dotty compound is softer than standard trail shoe rubber, which maximizes grip but wears faster on pavement or concrete. Avoid walking on hard surfaces when possible, and the outsole will maintain its pedal-gripping performance much longer.
Yes, the molded EVA insole is removable, and there’s enough volume inside the shoe to accommodate most aftermarket orthotics or custom footbeds. If you use a high-volume orthotic, you may need to size up a half size to maintain a comfortable fit. The shoe’s internal shape works well with arch-support insoles, since the midsole platform is already designed with some structure underfoot.
The elastic lace keeper holds the excess lace loop securely against the tongue, and we’ve never had a report of laces coming undone mid-ride when the keeper is used correctly. Tuck the loop completely under the stretchy band after tightening, and it stays in place even on rowdy, high-speed descents. The metal eyelets also resist loosening over time, unlike some plastic eyelet systems.
